The NasaWing Kite

This kite works for me in so many ways. I marvel at its simplicity and power. To make one is a reasonably sized project that does not take advanced skills. It is inexpensive enough to give as gifts and small enough to take on trips. People that otherwise think kites are boring find the raw power and quick maneuverability exciting. It was a good introduction for me to stunt and power kite flying. There is a strong community of friendly and helpful builders and flyers. And I found everything I needed to enjoy building and flying these kites on the Internet.

NPW9b: Hot New NasaWing Kite
Under Development

01/21/03 - This new version of the NasaWing promises to be faster, pull harder and fly a bigger window. It is an adaptation of NASA's version 9 and goes by the designation NPW9b. Currently there are about 18 people around the globe sharing ideas and test results as they refine this exciting kite.

The NPW9b has a different wing shape and additional set of bridals. Though it is no harder to make than the NPW5 it is a higher performance kite suitable for those with more experience.

There are two plans/calculator programs available for those who want to experiment with this new version:

For the designer: http://freedom2000.free.fr (Lots of building help here too!!!)
